Bosworth Independent College joins the CATS Colleges group

Bosworth Independent College in Northampton, UK, is to integrate into the CATS Colleges group of schools.

Bosworth provides independent boarding education to pupils from the UK and abroad from 13 to 19 years of age. Established in 1977, it was ranked in the UK's Top 100 Coeducational Boarding Schools by A Level results in 2019[1]. The school has more than 300 students, including more than 200 boarders from 39 countries.

Bosworth becomes the 18th school in the CATS Colleges network, which makes CATS one of the largest school groups in the private education sector.

CATS Colleges Group comprises three brands: CATS Colleges - international boarding schools in the UK, US and China; Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts; and Stafford House, a chain of English language schools in the UK and North America. Each year, the group educates over 18,000 students, from 100 countries to prepare for the next stage of their educational careers.

Chris Stacey, CEO, CATS Colleges, comments:

I’m delighted to welcome Bosworth Independent College to the group. A small school with a tight-knit community, Bosworth will be able to access a range of support from around the network so that together we can create bright futures for more students.

A group structure offers a range of benefits including the sharing of knowledge, best practice, and resources in different areas of school operations from academic provision to pastoral care and leadership.

Two new appointments have been made:

  • Jason Lewis joins as Principal on 1 August. Jason has nearly twenty years’ experience in education, having spent nine years as Headmaster and Principal at international schools in Africa. He is originally from North Wales and read Geography at Aberystwyth University before completing his PGCE.
  • Mike Foster has been appointed as Sales Director of CATS Colleges’ independent schools’ portfolio and started yesterday, 7 April. With over 25 years’ experience in creating value for a range of businesses, most recently Mike was the Sales Director for Asia of a large education group.

Chris Stacey adds:

It’s great to have Mike on board. He brings with him a wealth of experience. He understands what’s important to parents when they consider sending their child to the UK for a British boarding school experience. And I look forward to welcoming Jason to the team later this year.

As part of the integration plans, Bosworth will offer a new University Foundation Programme (UFP). Designed specifically for international students, Bosworth will be able to take advantage of CATS Colleges’ links with over 30 UK universities offering conditional progression opportunities. Celebrating 35 years of the programme this year, CATS UFP has helped over 5,000 students progress to top UK universities.

Both CATS Colleges and Bosworth Independent College were purchased separately last year by Bright Scholar Education Holdings Limited, the largest operator of international and bilingual schools in China. The acquisitions were among those to strengthen Bright Scholar’s global portfolio to provide opportunities for teachers and students internationally. Bright Scholar is growing to a global premium education service provider.
